Torbay council reminds parents to submit school applications

Torbay Council is reminding parents who have children in Year 6 who are due to start secondary school in September 2020 that the deadline for applications is 31 October 2019.

If your child was born between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009 you will need to apply for a place by the end of the month.

Councillor Cordelia Law, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services at Torbay Council, said: “The application deadline is on Thursday 31 October which is not a long time away. I strongly encourage parents with children due to start secondary school in September to get their applications in as soon as they can.

“Applying online is the quickest and easiest way to fill out and submit your applications. I recommend parents read through the TIPS booklet, where they can learn more about Torbay’s transparent and fair application system for secondary school admissions.”

You can apply online or on a paper form, available from schools, nurseries or by phoning the Admissions helpline on 01803 208908. The deadline for applications to reach the council is 31 October 2019.

Before you apply for a place you should read Torbay’s admissions guidance and the June 2019 letter sent to parents via primary schools.

You can apply online here: https://www.torbay.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/admissions/secondary-place-2020/

Torbay Council admissions officers are also available to help parents through the admissions process. Parents can telephone 01803 208908 (10am to 1pm Monday to Friday) or email pupil.services@torbay.gov.uk
