Update: People at the scene are reporting that the hospital is now open but police remain at the scene and searches continue.
Torbay Hospital is currently on lockdown with armed police at the scene this evening, Thursday 22nd March.
Police are not allowing anyone in or out of the hospital.
The nature of the incident is unclear.
People at the scene state that there is a huge police presence, including armed police and vehicles in the area are being checked.
