Torbay’s first love your High Street week to take place in July

Independent high street businesses in Torbay are gearing up for the Bay’s first Love your High Street Torbay week, taking place from the 11 July 2016.

Love your High Street week is a brand new campaign celebrating the independent local businesses in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

Richard Haddock, Executive Lead for Business, said: “This campaign is exactly what Torbay needs and is a fundamental element of our efforts to help attract footfall and vitality into the town centres ahead of large scale regeneration. I would love to see our fantastic local independent high street businesses get behind this campaign.”

The campaign is being delivered by Shop up the High Street, the high street regeneration project from the TDA and funded by the Coastal Communities Fund.

Liz Edwards, Business Advisor heading up the project, said: “Love your High Street week is a brand new incentive all about shopping at small businesses. We want to encourage shoppers to spend their money locally and educate them on the impact spending at small businesses has. For example, shopping at a small business in your local high street can reduce carbon emissions, boosts the economy and reduces unemployment.”

Marketing packs are now available to help small businesses get involved in Love your High Street week. These are free of charge and can be delivered to you once you have registered.

Marketing packs will include resources to help high street businesses in areas such as social media marketing, and promotional materials to help each business celebrate the campaign.

Business owner, Lyn Grant of Cloudberry Lily Interiors, Torquay said: “This kind of initiative is a fantastic idea for the independent businesses of Torbay High Streets. It’s simple to do and really captures the spirit of why people should shop locally. There are some fantastic independent businesses across Torbay and I hope they all get involved.”

The Love your High Street week is taking place from 11 – 17 July across Torbay and is free of charge to all independent retailers wishing to get involved.

If you’re an independent high street business in Torbay and you would like a marketing pack email Loveyourhighsttorbay@gmail.com or for more information and to see our full programme of activities visit www.loveyourhighsttorbay.com
