Fire crews and police remain at the scene of a fire in Paignton this evening, Monday, 11th October.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fire in a deep fat fryer just before 5pm.
Initially, two fire engines from Paignton and one from Torquay were mobilised to the incident.
Flames could be seen from the flats above the commercial premises below. Smoke could be seen from around Torbay.
Crews from Brixham, Newton Abbot and Totnes were mobilised soon after.
More crews from around South Devon were mobilised, with 16 appliances at the scene, along with police.
Torbay Road is closed in both directions.
A cordon remains in place.
