Torbay Road remains closed following a fire which damaged homes and businesses in Thursday, 11th October.
The fire started Thursday afternoon, spreading rapidly. Over 100 firefighters attended the incident and worked throughout the night.
The situation will be reassessed by the council on Monday.
Torbay Council said in a statement today: “Following an assessment today we’ve decided to keep Paignton’s Torbay Road closed and cordons in place this weekend to keep as many people safe as possible following the fire at Scoffs. The windy conditions continue, so there’s the risk of flying debris from unstable structures and hazardous materials such as loose roof tiles from properties which caught on fire.
“The Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service has now stood down and handed responsibility to us and this afternoon we’re talking to residents and businesses directly affected by the blaze to update them on the latest situation.
“We’ll reassess the situation on Monday morning and make a decision on the road closure then. In the meantime diversions remain in place,”
