For the first time ever, six of the public toilets in Torbay area have won platinum in the national Loo of the Year Awards.
Bank Lane toilets in Brixham, Goodrington Central toilets, Seafront Complex and Market Street toilets in Torquay, Paignton Central toilets and also Festival Apollo toilets in Paignton have all won platinum in the annual awards. It’s the second highest accolade available in the awards with rankings going from bronze to silver, gold, platinum and then diamond as the highest that can be achieved.
The toilets in Torbay are managed by Healthmatic on behalf of Torbay Council.
Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay said: “This is great news as it’s the first time Torbay has been awarded six platinum Loo of the Year awards for our public toilets, and is testament to the hard work of the staff at Healthmatic and the partnership working between them and Torbay Council.”
Every day on average, Healthmatic vans are driven 64 miles, while 150 jumbo toilet rolls are ordered for use at our public toilets every week. In addition around 20 litres of lemon impact gel are used every week.
Martin Fearon from Healthmatic said: “We are delighted that this forward looking partnership between Torbay Council and Healthmatic has achieved this level of recognition. We are extremely proud that the combination of capital investment by the Council and the dedication shown by our staff has resulted in a significantly better experience for Torbay residents and visitors alike.”
