Torbay Velopark forced to close due to travellers at the site

Torbay Velopark has been forced to close this Easter bank holiday due to travellers at the site.

A post on Facebook confirmed closure for today, Friday 15 April and the rest of the weekend. The Veloskate and Park Run events have been cancelled.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for Torbay Velopark said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control the Velopark will be closed today and for the rest of the weekend.
The Veloskate, Park run and Park Run junior are also cancelled.
We will let you know when we can reopen.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Questioned if the travellers were on the actual Velopark, they responded: “They are in the service lane not on the track. We have locked the velopark to ensure the track is safe.”

This is not the first time the facility has had to close due to travellers. Travellers also set up at the facility during the pandemic whilst the Velopark was closed.
