Grade II listed Torquay railway station refurbished to create six business units for local independent businesses. Open days scheduled to view newly converted premises
Business owners and independent retailers in Torquay have a unique opportunity to lease a slice of locomotive history at six newly refurbished Grade II listed trading facilities which have been brought back to life thanks to Network Rail.
Network Rail has invested a significant amount of money – over £500,000 – to refurbish and convert the six units on Solsbro Road and is now offering them on three-year leases to independent businesses.
The buildings, which date back to the 19th century, originally provided separate waiting room accommodation for first, second and third Class rail passengers. They have been vacant for a number of years but have now been converted and modernised.
The units range in size from 564 sq ft to 670 sq ft and are suitable for a variety of uses from offices, studios or retail. Each one benefits from period features, high ceilings and are completely self-contained with toilet and kitchen facilities.
Network Rail is staging two open days on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th July to allow prospective tenants to see the facilities first-hand. No appointment is necessary and anyone interested is welcome to attend between 11am and 6pm on Thursday and between 8am and 3pm on Friday.
Derek Brace, Portfolio Manager (South West) Commercial Real Estate, Network Rail, said: “These units are a unique opportunity located in the heart of Torquay. They provide flexible space and we are keen to see them occupied again and supporting thriving local, independent businesses.”
Annual rents for the sites range from between £6,500 and £7,500 per year and anyone wishing to book a viewing on the open days can call 0800 830 840.
