A 19-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently in police custody.

DI Mike Jones said: “I would like to thank the public for their help with this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are treating the incident very seriously.

“The use of a weapon, particularly a bladed article, is something we simply will not tolerate.

“We are continuing with our enquiries this morning and I would like to ask that if anyone witnessed the incident to contact the police.”
