TorVista Homes have now completed development of nine affordable rent homes at Totnes Road, Paignton.  The homes, which are now fully occupied, will provide much needed housing for local people.

TorVista Homes plan to be part of the long-term housing solution in Torbay with a number of new schemes in the pipeline.  They include a range of different affordable housing products such as temporary accommodation, Extra Care housing, older persons housing and general needs for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership. The Totnes Road scheme includes one adapted home with disabled access.

As part of TorVista’s drive to deliver energy efficient homes, the Totnes Road scheme includes heating and hot water linked to roof mounted solar panels. The renewable electricity generated is fed directly into the power supply of each apartment to ensure the amount of sustainable energy available to residents is maximised.

Feedback from the new tenants of the Totnes Road development has been positive, with one saying: “We are grateful to have been given the opportunity to have a forever home which has been built to a great standard.”

Leader of Torbay Council, Cllr David Thomas, said: “Housing is the number one priority for us and for any family living in the Bay. We are committed to providing appropriate housing across the Bay and are delighted to welcome our residents to their new high quality, affordable homes. The development is a real success story for Torbay providing nine families with houses in the right location and at the right price.”

Chair of TorVista Homes, Rick Williams, said: “TorVista are very proud to have been able to provide these good quality new homes for local families. They have proved to be very popular with more than 180 applicants for some of the flats. This indicates the huge demand for affordable homes in Torbay, and TorVista is committed to growing the supply within the Bay.”

TorVista aims to deliver a wide range of good quality homes and services and be the landlord of choice for all our community. Its priority and focus areas are to target new investment in Torbay to support Torbay Council in the delivery of the objectives and outcomes identified within the Housing Strategy.

TorVista Homes has Registered Provider status and Investment Partner status with Homes England. This enables the housing company to bid for and receive the grants required to support the delivery and acquisition of affordable housing, which will help maximise the number of homes delivered in Torbay.

TorVista Homes Limited is part of TDA Group, which is a wholly owned company of Torbay Council.
