Tomorrow’s (10th December) Totnes Christmas Street Market has been cancelled due to the weather.
The announcement came earlier today on social media:
“Dear All
“With a heavy heart I’m afraid Totnes Town Council have to cancel the Christmas event on the 10th due to adverse weather. The town is expecting 55+ mph winds and heavy rain plus a potential Amber weather warning.
“We are planning to make the 17th a full on extravaganza with some of the planned activities and entertainmenet pushed to next week!
“I hope you understand how difficult this decision was but safety is, of course, paramount.
“Edit: many off (sic) our local shops still intend to open late tomorrow and the craft event in the Methodist church is going ahead as planned. So if you’ve got shopping to do, Totnes is still open for business.”
Next week’s event, to be held on Tuesday 17th December is currently going ahead as planned.
The indoor craft market in the Civic Hall has also been cancelled tomorrow but many of the shops in Totnes will be opened late as planned.
