A Torquay town centre shop is closed today following a ram raid this morning, 9th November.
The doors at Boots in Union Street were severely damaged. The store is still cordoned off with police remaining at the scene.
It is reported that a silver car was used in the incident.
Jazz Hair & Beauty also in Union Street, also had their shop front damage.
They posted on Facebook today:
“It’s always sunny in Torquay. Scum try to break in to our salon destroy our doors. They destroy the frontage of Boots. None of the town cctv records anything, we pay our business rates and it doesn’t change the high street or make it better. The council needs to wake up and protect our businesses and our customers. Where are our rates spent if not on the high street? There should be 24 hour surveillance so these bastards can be caught and dealt with severely and not have a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. It is bad enough during the day with all the police and ambulances attending to dumb asses. These people have no respect for hard working folk. They waste our valuable resources and money. They put undue stress on our police and the NHS. Nearly everyday the police and ambulances have to attend town. Something needs to change fast. The Lord Mayor the Councillors and the MP need to wake up and do something that is tangible for the town and it’s good folk,”
