A local hospice who supports more than 2,000 patients and their families in South Devon each year has received a boost from one of Torquay’s major shopping centres.
Rowcroft Hospice was chosen by Union Square Shopping Centre to be its nominated charity of the year for 2018. The shopping centre, in the heart of Torquay boasts a host of national and local retailers including; Jewellers F.Hinds, fashion brand, Peacocks and national toy retailer, The Entertainer as well as many more.
Richard Randle-Jones, Centre Manager said, “Support for our local community is a key part of our ethos and we are delighted to be continuing that work with Rowcroft through 2018.”
Rosey Oakes, Community Fundraising Manager of Rowcroft Hospice said “We are delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year by the team at Union Square and look forward to a happy and fruitful partnership.”
Rowcroft is South Devon’s only adult hospice and covers an area of over 300 square miles, looking after patients in their own homes and at the hospice’s Inpatient Unit in Torquay.
Rosey added: “We are dedicated to ensuring the 2,000 patients supported by the hospice every year are able to make precious memories with the people they love, during some of the most challenging days of their lives. The support Union Square Shopping Centre will help us to do just that.”
Following on from the success of last year’s Super Saturdays, the team at Union Square are in the midst of planning fun monthly events for all the family, and Rowcroft’s Fundraising Team and volunteers are looking forward to being involved throughout the year.
Richard added: “Come down and join us at Union Square on the first Saturday of the month every month for completely free family fun!”
