Abbey Road, Torquay closed due to Fire

Abbey Road was closed earlier due to a fire at Costa Rica Plantation Company.

Three fire engines from Torquay and Paignton were mobilised to the incident on Abbey Road just before 2pm.

The aerial platform was also mobilised from Torquay.

Fire crews found a fire within the basement involving coffee roasting equipment.

Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, small tools, triple extension ladder, 1 safety jet and the Aerial Platform.

Positive pressure ventilation fans were used to remove smoke from the property.

Crews are now carrying out a temperature check of ducting, accessing trunking and flues.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
