Dog walkers have been advised to keep their dogs on leads whilst walking in Watcombe Woods in Torquay after a dog was admitted to Silverton Veterinary Practice yesterday, Tuesday 8th December suffering from seizures following a dog walk.
Other dogs have experience similar issues after walking in the same area.
It is currently unknown what is causing the dogs to become unwell.
A spokesperson for Silverton Veterinary Practice said: “Yesterday we had a dog admitted suffering from seizures and unusual behaviour following a walk in Watcombe Woods. It’s now known that multiple dogs have presented with similar symptoms yesterday on the same dog walk.
“We’re very happy to report that our patient has recovered very well and as far as we are aware the other dogs seen by vets in the area have as well.
“We just ask that as we don’t know what caused this, to be careful and when walking in that area for the time being, perhaps keep your dog on a lead so you can be aware of what they’re doing. If you have any concerns please contact us on 01803 558588 (You’ll be referred to midnightvet south Devon outside our usual opening hours).”
