Wide range of jobs on offer at Specsavers Exeter

An eye-catching opportunity for people to take their career in a new direction after the disruption of lockdown is on offer in Exeter.

The city’s Specsavers store is hosting a recruitment open evening on 12 October, with visitors able to meet the team and learn about the various types of careers available.

More than 10 roles at all levels of experience are available at the store, so potential candidates can ask for details about the full range of retail and clinical roles.

This comes as the British Retail Consortium says that one in five high street retailers has closed due to the pandemic, and one in 20 who want a job are unable to find one.

Emma Denham, Exeter store director, said: ‘The pandemic has been hard on all of us in lots of ways. Some people lost their jobs, some were furloughed for a long time, and this has made many think about taking a new career path.

‘We have a range of clinical and retail job opportunities available, and for our open evening there will be staff on hand who’ve taken the different journeys within Specsavers and are therefore well qualified to talk to others about what the roles involve.’

The Exeter store has seen increased customer demand in the past year, with many people heeding the message about the importance of looking after their sight and hearing during the pandemic.

Emma said that employing more staff will enable the store to continue offering the highest standards of care to the people of Exeter.

She added: ‘We believe in investing in the local talent available, because this then has a positive knock-on for the community, helping to keep the high street strong.

‘Those who join us will have the chance to develop and increase the skills they need to become successful.
‘We are offering a variety of promising careers, each rooted in first-class support to help people meet their goals and aspirations.

‘It’s an opportunity for people to take up an apprenticeship or earn on the job while they train for further qualifications.’

Specsavers Exeter is at 247-248 High St, EX4 3PZ. The recruitment evening is on 12 October, 6.15pm-7.15pm.
