One fire engine from Torquay and two from Paignton were mobilised following a call from the Police informing them there was a person trapped.

A fire service spokesperson said:
“Upon arrival crews confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision. The car had collided with the central reservation,  with one female medically trapped. Crews administered oxygen while awaiting the arrival of the Ambulance service.

“Hydraulic equipment, small tools and a saw was used to release the female from the vehicle, who was then taken to hospital by land ambulance,”
