A young girl spotted alone in Torquay yesterday, prompting a land and air police search has now been located by police who have confirmed she is safe and well.
Police were called at around 11am to the Hele area after a girl, possibly aged around 6, knocked at the door of a property. It was reported she said she was lost before running away.
Police carried out active searches involving the police helicopter and Search and Rescue dogs of the area.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:”Following a report of concern for the welfare of young girl in Torquay yesterday [5 April], we can confirm that she has been identified.
“Following information reported to police, officers have been able to locate the young girl at her home address and confirmed that she is safe and well.
“We would like thank everyone who shared the appeal and assisted with enquiries in the area.”
