Eight youths were arrested in Brixham on Friday night, 14th July after police received intelligence that a group were heading to Brixham Hap’Nin intent on causing trouble.
The Youths, not from the town were arrested within 10 minutes of being in Brixham for possession of a weapon, drug offences and breach of the peace.
Brixham Police said on Facebook: “We received community intelligence to suggest a group of youths from ‘out of town’, were going to come to Brixham with a view of causing problems/violence with weapons at the Brixham Hap’Nin’ over the weekend.
“At about 1940 hours on Friday evening eight males were stopped on Bolton Street, Brixham, having been in Brixham for around 10 minutes. All eight were arrested, one on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, two for drug offences and five in order to prevent a breach of the peace. Enquiries are continuing. A further male was arrested later on St Marys Road.
“At about 1600 hours on Saturday afternoon a male was arrested for a knife possession offence, again on St Marys Road!”
Police thanked the public for helping them prevent an incident occurring.
“Many thanks indeed for the continued support of our generally very wonderful community, we couldn’t do it without you and you have undoubtedly enabled us to thwart/prevent incident!”
