Rising star Carina Harris was murdered during an unscheduled rehearsal for an upcoming play. Now it’s up to the director of the show to determine which of his temperamental cast members is dramatic enough to be a killer!
Purple Dreams Productions will be visiting The Palace Theatre, Paignton on Friday 5th August at 7.30pm with their first ‘whodunit’ – ‘The Empty Stage’.
Having previously entertained audiences across the country with many of their productions, they are thrilled to be bringing their latest production to Paignton! ‘The Empty Stage’ started touring this year and is already proving a popular production with audiences and venues alike!
‘The Empty Stage’ is uniquely set on the stage of The Palace Theatre, so will be a real treat for theatre-goers looking for something a bit different! The play is packed with twists to keep the audience – and characters – guessing as they witness the most deadly rehearsal Devon has ever seen!
Purple Dreams Productions are a completely self-funded group formed in 2012 who have been touring theatres across the country for the past four years with original plays written exclusively for them by their founder and Creative Director, critically acclaimed playwright Tobias Nicholls .The plays range from drama to comedy and have had audiences gasping and laughing from Cumbria to Colchester and from Bridlington to Minehead.
Norfolk-based Tobias has spent all his working life in the theatre, either off stage – covering everything from stewarding through technical to General Manager – or on stage as an actor/writer which is his first love. Alongside his work he also formed Purple Dreams as an am-dram group and won many awards both as an actor and for his original scripts. In 2011 he left his day job at the theatre, turned Purple Dreams into a professional touring theatre company and has taken his writing talent to entertain a much wider audience by touring theatres. As well as being critically acclaimed as a ‘rising talent’, he is gaining the reputation of delivering high quality audience entertainment.
The plays range from comedies through to much darker dramas but in all of them there are twists and turns in the plot which keep you guessing right to the very end. Tobias is the Creative Director and writes all the plays as well as directing and acting in them. When not in theatres, he and Purple Dreams Productions perform Theatre in Education productions and pantomimes in schools.
