Paignton Library is celebrating the work of local carers by holding a free afternoon of activities and entertainment for carers and those they care for.
The afternoon has been organised as part of a week of events in Torbay marking carers week 2015 and will be taking place in Paignton Library on Wednesday June 10 from 12.45pm until 3pm.
Carers Week is an annual campaign designed to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It is estimated that in Torbay alone that there are 16,000 unpaid carers.
The afternoon offers people the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities from genealogy and jewellery making to Zumba and singing for health. Following that, attendees will be able to relax with refreshments and be entertained by a local vocal talent Lydia Martin.
The purpose of the afternoon is to give carers across the bay a chance to unwind in the company of others, share experiences and coping strategies, as well as enjoying the entertainment provided or discovering a new hobby or therapeutic activity.
