At first it looked like Torquay wouldn’t get any Christmas lights, it seemed it would be doom and gloom.
Now, not only will there be lights (after a local radio station agreed to fund them. More here: https://wearesouthdevon.com/local-radio-station-save-christmas-in-torquay/) there will also be Christmas events on Saturdays leading up to Christmas.
Starting on Saturday, 26th November with Stories of Christmas in Torquay.
Christmas by the sea have said about the event: “We are filling Torquay with storytellers to engage families in stories borne from the traditional carol ‘I saw three ships,”
Events will take place at regular times at The harbourside, Union Shopping Centre and on Fleet Walk. More here.
Saturday 3rd December: Create Christmas in Torquay.
A day of festive crafting with a variety of activities and workshops across the town centre:
Activities will be held at the Townhall, Harbourside, Fleet Walk and Union Square Shopping centre. More here.
Sat 10th Dec: Christmas Beach Party in Torquay.
Head down to Lower Union Street 10am-4pm for a Christmas beach party.
Join ‘Sound Communities’ for festive treats. At this Christmas beach party you can reminisce about your favourite Christmases past, vote for your all time Christmas number one even enjoy a boogie in our silent disco.
Sat 17th Dec: The Sound of Christmas in Torquay.
Torquay will be alive with the sound of Christmas choirs all hoping to be crowned South Devon Christmas Choir 2016. Enjoy their performances and vote for your favourite!
Choirs will be performing around the town centre from 11am-3pm, at the following locations:
-Fleet Walk (bottom of the escalators by Tk Maxx)
-Union Square shopping centre
-Outside Conroy Couch Jewellers, Union Street.

There will also be a festive trail held on Saturdays 26th November-17th December, 10am-4pm. Follow a trail of visually stunning artistic installations. All based on different ideas by artists around the traditional Christmas carol ‘I saw three ships’.
