Council Board invites questions on dementia support in Torbay

Torbay Council’s Adult Social Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Board will focus on dementia support at its next meeting on Thursday 14 March 2024.

Partners from Social Care and the NHS have been invited to give a presentation at the meeting.

This will give an overview of dementia care in Torbay and how well the services and support work for those living with dementia, and their carers.

The meeting will be held in the Banking Hall at the Town Hall, Torquay, TQ1 3DR (entrance on the left corner of the Town Hall), starting at 2pm, and will be open to the public to attend and listen to the presentation and discussion.

Members of the public are invited to submit a general question on this subject before the meeting.

They are asked to email questions to scrutiny@torbay.gov.uk by Monday 11 March 2024.  Please note that the Board will not be able to consider individual cases or personal circumstances at the meeting.

Councillor Patrick Joyce, Chair of the Board, said: “The Sub-Board’s focus will be to put the needs of Torbay’s community at the heart of the review and explore the support and services currently available for those residents of Torbay who live with dementia, and their carers.

“It is vital to better understand the current challenges faced alongside what is working well, so that we can, together with partners, explore how support and services may be improved, with particular emphasis on future needs given the ever-increasing demand for appropriate care.”

The agenda and meeting documents are due to be published on Wednesday 6 March 2024 and will be available on the Torbay Council website.
