Extra help if you’re on Council Tax Support in Torbay

(Last Updated On: April 4, 2020)

Residents in Torbay who are receiving Council Tax Support are being urged to find out about an additional discount that is available as part of a range of financial support during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Council Tax Support is a scheme that supports people who are unemployed or on a low income – Torbay Council is offering a further £150 discount.

Cabinet Member for Corporate and Community Services, Councillor Christine Carter, said: “This is a really challenging time for everyone but with the added financial pressure and uncertainty we wanted to do more to help those who are struggling.

“The additional help means any working age customer currently receiving Council Tax support will have a further £150 discount applied to their annual bill automatically on top of the Council Tax Support they receive.”

You can find out about Council Tax Support, as well as other schemes including Discretionary Housing Payment, Crisis Support Scheme and many others, on the Torbay Council website.
