Fire crews continue to battle major blaze overnight

Fire crews worked overnight battling a major fire in Newton Abbot that started yesterday afternoon, Sunday 21st October.

The fire service were called to reports of a fire at a disused warehouse on the Brunel Industrial estate at around 1pm. Initially three fire engines were mobilised to the incident, with crews from around Devon and Somerset, later joining them.

Police concerned for welfare of man missing from Torquay

Forde Close was closed by police who remained at the scene.

A number of nearby residents were temporarily relocated to a community centre for their own safety.

It is expected that residents will be allowed to return to their homes this morning.

It is not yet known how the fire started.
