Fire service free people trapped in a lift at The Range, Torquay

South Devon fire fighters battle Kingsbridge industrial estate blaze

The Fire service were called to reports of people stuck in the lift at The Range, Babbacombe, Torquay yesterday afternoon.

People in the store at the time say that the escalators had also stopped working.

2 fire engines were mobilised to the incident, one from Torquay and one from Paignton at around 3.10pm

It is thought the people were trapped in the lift for some time.

A spokesperson for the Fire Service said:

“On arrival crews confirmed 2 adults and 3 children stuck in lift car and released them using small tools.”
