Gold at the British Travel Awards takes Devon holiday park past 100th major award win

South Devon’s multi award-winning holiday park, Cofton Holidays, has picked up its 100th major award since it started welcoming guests to its heavenly corner of Devon 48 years ago, following Gold at the British Travel Awards (BTA), the UK’s largest consumer-voted travel awards.

The biggest award win in Cofton Holidays’ history tops a record year of results, which includes double success at the 2022 Western Morning News Business Awards in both the Tourism & Hospitality Resilience category, and the Environmental and Sustainability category, Gold at the Food Drink Devon Awards, where Cofton captured the top award for its on-site restaurant, and both Business of the Year, and Leisure and Tourism business of the year titles at the South West Business and Community Awards.

Earlier this summer, Cofton achieved international recognition at the ACSI Awards, where Cofton won Best Motorhome Pitches UK and Ireland. Cofton also won a 5-star award from Luxuria Lifestyle in recognition of its luxury lodges, and received its 30th David Bellamy Conservation Award, adding to its pile of Gold accreditations over the years.

As a result, in the past twelve months alone, Cofton has bagged 15 awards, including two Golds at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2021/22 for Best Dog Friendly Business, and Holiday Park of the Year. Other accolades included the Family Business of the Year title at the South West FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards, an AA 5 Pennant Platinum Accreditation at the AA’s Camping and Caravanning Awards, and a TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Certificate of Excellence. This follows on from success at the 2021 Western Morning News Business Awards, taking home the Environment and Sustainability title, and glory at the iTravel Staycation Awards, where Cofton was recognised as the UK’s Best Caravan/Campsite.

Commenting on its serial success, Helen Scott, Director at Cofton, said: “We are truly humbled by our recent run of awards success, and want to thank every single one of our customers who took the trouble to vote for us in the Best UK Holiday Parks and Lodges Company category at the BTAs. Every year we strive to better ourselves, investing in our staff, facilities and services. As a holiday park, we pride ourselves on our accommodation, entertainment, as well as our sustainable, and environmentally conscious approach to doing business.

“However, to be certain that we are providing the very best experience to our customers, we recognise that we need to benchmark ourselves, which is why we enter a broad breadth of awards every year, as this enables us to assess our progress independently against our peers. It also allows us to identify new ways in which we can improve, which is why, year after year, we put ourselves before the judges. It keeps us on our toes, and I’m glad to say that it helps to keep Cofton Holidays fresh, exciting, and forward thinking.”
