Kayakers rescued off Preston Sands

Two kayakers were rescued off Preston Sands this afternoon, Thursday 27th June.

Berry Head Coastguard, Teignmouth RNLI and coastguard helicopter attended the incident just after 3pm.

The kayakers were recovered by Teignmouth lifeboat and Coastguard helo Rescue 924.

Berry Head Coastguard were tasked to retrieve the kayak bit were unable to due to the rough conditions.

Devon and Cornwall police said “The Met Office are reporting strong easterly winds across Devon and Cornwall and moderate to rough sea conditions, particularly on the south coast.

“Anyone entering the sea in this warm weather is advised to be aware of the conditions and take extra care,”

A man died after being pulled from the sea at Babbacombe this afternoon, more here.

Another man was pulled from the sea near ‘London Bridge’ in Torquay.
