Man dies following Babbacombe incident

A man has died following an incident in Babbacombe earlier today, Thursday 27th June.

Emergency services were called to Babbacombe this afternoon, after two people were pulled from the sea by Torbay RNLI.

Police, coastguard crews, coastguard helicopter, ambulance crews and the air ambulance attended the scene.

Two men were brought into Babbacombe Beach and taken to Torbay district hospital.

Police enquires remain ongoing at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 552 of Thursday 27 June.

Two people who had been kayaking were also rescued off Preston this afternoon, more here. Another person was winched to safety from the sea near ‘London Bridge’ rock.

Devon and Cornwall police said “The Met Office are reporting strong easterly winds across Devon and Cornwall and moderate to rough sea conditions, particularly on the south coast.

“Anyone entering the sea in this warm weather is advised to be aware of the conditions and take extra care,”
