Lights, bubbles, and dancing in Torbay Road this Saturday

There’s an afternoon of free family entertainment this Saturday in Torbay Road, Paignton.

Organised by Torbay Road Traders Association, and supported by Torbay Council, families can come together to enjoy the Stagecoach Christmas bus, dancing elves and a Snow Queen Bubbleologist.

In addition, several businesses along the road are getting into the festive spirit and there’s a rumour that Father Christmas might be making an appearance! There’s also a competition underway by the Traders to win a family ticket for the Train of Lights.

Watch out for the cheeky elves as they get everyone smiling and dancing and bring a bit of fun to the high-street.

The enchanting Snow Queen Bubbleologist brings her magical LED act with bubble tricks and smoke effects (weather permitting).

With Christmas just days away, the activities have been organised for families to enjoy whilst visiting the town centre for some last-minute Christmas shopping or before catching the Train of Lights.

Nearby Victoria car park is running the ‘pay for an hour, stay for the day’ parking promotion, meaning visitors and shoppers can enjoy Paignton town centre all day – without worrying about their parking expiring.

This is the second free event that is being held in Torbay Road since the trial of a full pedestrianisation scheme went live. The purpose of putting on and encouraging events in this area of the town centre, is to demonstrate how people can come together and experience how the space can be used now and in the future.

Cllr Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council, said; “Head to Paignton town centre this Saturday to enjoy lights, dancing elves and bubbles – all guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s faces. There’s also plenty of shops to explore in and around the town centre for some last-minute Christmas shopping and lots of places to stop and enjoy a hot drink and festive treat. Thank you to the Torbay Road Traders Association for their hard work in putting this event together.”

The event is free to attend, entertainment takes place between 1pm and 4pm.
1.00pm Dancing elves (30-minute walkabout act)
