Update: The area has now been cordoned off. It is believed the hole is due to coastal erosion. More here https://wearesouthdevon.com/public-warned-to-stay-clear-of-deep-hole-which-has-appeared-at-daddyhole-plain/

Locals have warned others to be aware of a deep hole that has appeared at Daddyhole Plain today, Monday 16th May.

The hole is said to be approximately 1ft x 2.5ft and appears to be extremely deep.

The hole, next to a bench, has been noticed by several members of the public, some of whom have used social media page Spotted Torquay to warn others.

Polly Croaker explained how there seemed to be some confusion over who was responsible for the area, posting on Spotted:
“We reported it to the police who told us to call the council. The council told us they weren’t responsible and to call coast & country.

“Coast and country told us they weren’t responsible and told us to call the council!

“The police then called back and told us they’d informed the ‘Rangers’ and someone was going to check it out!”

Updates to follow.
