Lucky escape for South Devon couple after crash

A Couple from South Devon escaped from their car with only minor injuries after it came off the road late last night.

Blake Didwell, 21 from Paignton and Rachel Nickells, also 21 from Torquay, suffered from minor injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident just after 11.30pm last night after the car left the road on the A381 just past Ipplepen.

Police, Ambulance crews and the fire service attended.

A fire service spokesperson said:

“On arrival crews found a Road Traffic Collision involving one vehicle with all persons free and clear. Crews made the vehicle safe and left the incident in the hands of the Police.”

The couple escaped with just cuts and bruises. They attended hospital where Blake required stitches.

Blake thanked those who stopped and helped,

“I Would just like to say thanks to the people that stopped. Police didn’t take any details so don’t know who you are but a huge thankyou to the lady who was on the phone to the ambulance in a jiffy and the fella with the first aid kit especially. But thanks to everyone that stopped to check on my and my girlfriend.”
