Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after woman found with serious head injury

Road closed due to police incident in Torquay

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a seriously injured woman was found by police in Plymouth yesterday, Wednesday 8 February.

Emergency services were called just after 5:30pm to reports of a disturbance within an address in North Down Crescent in the Keyham area.

Police found a woman in her 50’s with a serious head injury. She was treated at the scene before being taken to Derriford Hospital. Police state she is in a serious but stable condition.

A 46-year-old man is in police custody.

Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Michelle Dunn said: “I would like to reassure the local community of Keyham that whilst this is a nasty incident, it is an isolated matter and we currently have one suspect in custody.

“A scene guard remains in place and people can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area to help offer visible reassurance to the community.

“Our enquiries continue into this matter, and we thank the public for their assistance.”
