Man in critical condition following serious assault in Newton Abbot

Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information following an assault in Newton Abbot on Monday.

A 39-year-old man sustained a serious head injury after he was assaulted by a group of people as he walked along Kings Street at around 5.30pm. He was punched by one of the and fell to the ground, sustaining a serious head injury. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

An 18-year-old man and three boys, aged 15, 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion assault. They were all later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
