New Divisional Director of Torbay Children’s Safeguarding

New Divisional Director of Torbay Children’s Safeguarding

A new Children’s Services Divisional Director, of Safeguarding has been appointed by Torbay Council.

Jacquie Sims has joined the team, her most recent experience being ILACS Ofsted inspection and leading the emergency planning response in relation to COVID-19 for Children’s Social Care.

Cllr Cordelia Law, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Torbay Council, said: “I’d like to warmly welcome Jacquie to Torbay, her extensive experience means she will be an extremely valuable addition to Children’s Services. Jacquie joins us at an exciting time as we continue to move forward at pace with improving our overall offer to children and families, much of which we are already able to demonstrate.

Anne-Marie Bond, Interim Chief Executive of Torbay Council, said: “I am delighted that Jacquie has joined us in this role. She brings with her a wealth of experience in safeguarding and permanency planning and demonstrable strong leadership whilst remaining focussed on impact and outcomes for children”.

Nancy Meehan, Director of Children’s Services, Torbay Council, said: “I am looking forward to working with Jacquie and for her invaluable experience and support as we prepare for our next Ofsted Inspection. Jacquie was previously Director of Children’s Social Care at Cheshire East, prior to that she was in Staffordshire where she started as a social worker and worked through the post to ultimately being a County Manager”.

Jacquie Sims, Divisional Director, for Safeguarding at Torbay Council said: “I am very much looking forward to being part of Torbay’s improvement journey, helping to shape relationship based practice, support and services for its most vulnerable children and families. My most recent experience has included an ILACS Ofsted inspection and leading the emergency planning response in relation to COVID-19 for Children’s Social Care – both which are priorities for Torbay”.
