Torbay Council has proposed to introduce parking charges at Oldway Mansion in Paignton.
Oldway Mansion is currently closed to the public, falling into disrepair but the grounds are regularly used by many people including dog walking, with at present, free parking.
Oldway Mansion had previously belonged to the Singer family. Paignton Urban District Council purchased Oldway Mansion from the Singer family in 1946 for £45,000. In recent years the building was used as council offices and for civil marriage ceremonies. Oldway currently stands empty.
If the proposal goes ahead, an hours parking could cost £1.40 for an hour, £2.50 for 2 hours and all the way up to £8 for all day. Overnight parking charges would be £3.
The proposed charges are as follows:
Up to 1 hour £1.40, Up to 2 hours £2.50, Up to 3 hours £3.50, Up to 4 hours £4.50, Up to 5 hours £5.50, Up to 6 hours £6.50 and Up to 24 hours £8.00. Overnight (available 6pm to 8am) £3.00.
You can find more detailed documentation in relation to the order between 9:00am and 5:00pm each working day at the Torbay Council Connections Office, Paignton Library and Information Centre, Great Western Road, Paignton, TQ3 3HZ. Or online here: www.torbay.gov.uk/proposedtros
