Police in Torquay are appealing for information after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted.

The local teenager was approached by a man in a car in Cricketfield Road in the Barton area of the town just after midnight on Wednesday 11 February.

The man forced the girl into a car, described as a blue or green Ford Focus, and assaulted her before leaving her on the pavement and driving off.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft, wearing black shorts and a long sleeve black hooded top with the hood up.

Detective Inspector Kay Chapman, Torbay CID, said: “This was very distressing for the victim and we are appealing for the public’s help in identifying the car or the driver matching the description.

“This is an isolated incident and officers have been carrying out extra patrols in the area and speaking to residents to reassure them.”

Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to email101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk, call 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference CR/009819/15.
