DC Mike Copping said: “The girl was approached from behind in what is believed to be a sexually motivated attack. The girl managed to fight the man off.

“Although we believe this to be an isolated incident, I would urge members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to Police.”

The man is described as white, with a tanned appearance, with a long dark beard which was matted with dirt. His hair was brown/black, and short and spiky. He was wearing light blue jeans, bare-chested with no shoes on.

He was of a large, possibly fat build with hair over his arms and body. He was approximately 6ft tall and had a ‘sleeve’ tattoo over the whole of one arm, believed to be in black ink.

Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or reporting online atwww.crimestoppers-uk.org
