Police in Torquay are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Barton on Wednesday 5th August.
A man, believed to be in his late teens or early 20’s, went into E&M stores (Fore Street) at around 7pm, threatened a female shop assistant at with a kitchen knife, demanding money from the till.
When the assistant activated the panic alarm, the man fled empty handed, He made his escape on a BMX bike, which has a distinctive bright green saddle. The suspect is described as wearing a blue hoodie with the hood up and tied with distinctive thick white cord. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and dark shoes.
The member of staff, a woman in her 40s, was alone in the shop at the time and has been left shocked and distressed by the incident but unharmed.
