Police appeal for witnesses following fatal A38 collision

Police have appealed for witnesses following a collision on the A38 on New Years Day.

Emergency services attended the incident at Dean Prior near Buckfastleigh at 5.45pm after reports of a vehicle leaving the carriage way and colliding with a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, a 22 year old man from the Liskeard area and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His relatives have been informed.

The south bound carriageway of the A38 was closed until 2am.

Investigating officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses & ask that anyone with information contact them on 101 quoting incident reference 955 01/01/16.
