Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision

Police have appealed for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A38 this morning (Wednesday 16th September)

Emergency services were  called to a single vehicle collision at 12.15am. A silver Ford Focus left the road and collided with a number of trees.

The incident happened in between the 2 Chudleigh junctions, Plymouth bound.

The 22-year-old male driver, from Saltash, suffered serious head injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s family have been informed.

The road was closed while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit carry out a forensic examination of the scene. The road reopened shortly before 9am.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101 or email101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference 13 of 16 September.
