Police appeal for witnesses following serious collision

Police have appealed for witnessed following a collision yesterday that has a man hospitalised.

Last night (Monday 6th June) at around 7.45pm, a silver coloured Lexus left an unnamed road between Avonwick and Totnes, near to the Avon Inn Public House. The car collided with a tree and landed some 30 metres down a steep embankment.

Emergency services attended and took almost two hours to extract the sole occupant, a 40-year-old man from Torquay.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital where he received treatment for serious, non-life threatening injuries; his condition is currently described as stable.

An examination of the collision scene was conducted by officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit and the road was reopened at around 3am on Tuesday 7th June.
