Police increased patrols in the area around the potential rave site.
Organisers co-operated with police and left the site by 6.50pm.
One male was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled drug and received a police caution.
The Force takes a tough stance against rave goers and organisers by closing down illegal gatherings and seizing any equipment associated with the activity, under the Criminal Justice Public Order Act, where necessary.
Inspector Justin Wyles, Sector Inspector for Paignton and Brixham, said: “Community intelligence allowed us to take swift preventative action to stop a large illegal rave taking place.
“Around 1,300 people had been invited to attend the event and we used social media including local policing Facebook pages to warn people not to attend.
“If the rave had gone ahead it would have, without doubt, put people attending at risk of harm and caused disruption to the local residents.”
