Police warn public after attempted sexual assault

Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault in Exeter that happened today, Thursday 3rd November.

Police have advised the public to be vigilant following the incident which happened between 1.40pm and 2pm.

The public are being advised to be vigilant after an attempt was made to sexually assault a woman.

A woman was approached by two unknown men, both dressed in black with black gloves, who then attempted to sexually assault her in the lane, which runs between Bathern Road and Cumberland Drive adjacent to the A3015 (Rydon Lane) in Exeter. The woman managed to fight them off to which the men ran off.

Police have appealed for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, who saw anything suspicious or possesses home CCTV systems or ‘Dash-Cams’ in their vehicles, which were parked in the area.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Heraldry Walk, Rydon Lane or Digby Drive during this time, as they could hold vital information relating to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via email on 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/077963/16.

Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555111.
