Members of a group who help Torbay’s homeless are planning a protest today at the Mayor’s budget event at the Grand Hotel in Torquay today.

The volunteers from PATH (People Assisting Torbay’s Homeless) are planning to meet at the hotel at around 1.30pm. The meeting, the first of two is at 2pm (with a further meeting at 7pm).

The group, who take food and provisions to people living on the streets want to support Torbay’s homeless  after it was announced bylaws or Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) may be introduced to address the issue of rough sleeping on the seafront and town centres. More here.

The budget event has been organised to give members of the public and local organisations the opportunity to hear more about the proposals, ask questions and make comments.

With £21.5 million pounds worth of savings have to be made by 2020, it’s not going to be an easy task. More about the budget here: http://www.torbay.gov.uk/council/finance/budget/budget-201718/
