Stormtroopers, Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Jedi, an Ewok, Mandelorian and other Star Wars characters will descend upon Torquay Museum for an action-packed Star Wars costume character day from 10am – 4pm on Sunday 3rd September – the final day of the Museum’s blockbuster summer Star Wars exhibition. There will even be Jedi training in how to use a lightsabre. Visitors are encouraged to join in the fun and come dressed as their favourite Star Wars character.
The Star Wars Costume Character Day is the last of a series of family-friendly events designed to celebrate Torquay Museum’s summer blockbuster exhibition, May the Toys Be With You, which runs until 3rd September and showcases one of Britain’s finest Star Wars collections. Standard Museum admission applies – free to annual ticket holders.
Featuring a large collection of some of the first Star Wars toys, posters and memorabilia produced, May the Toys Be With You gives visitors the chance to get up-close to stunning life-sized replicas of Darth Vader, R2D2, a Stormtrooper, Yoda and a Boba Fett helmet and chest armour. There is also a full-sized Star Wars X-Wing Cockpit arcade video game that visitors can play, and much more.
“We’re really excited to be hosting this amazing exhibition,” said Torquay Museum’s Carl Smith. “and are delighted that we have managed to bring together some rare and special toys and costumes from the most iconic Sci-Fi movies ever made.”
“This exhibition will appeal to Sci-Fi fans, film buffs, big kids and little kids alike. Torquay Museum has showcased several hugely popular Sci-Fi exhibitions over the past decade – but this is the first time that we have had an exhibition dedicated entirely to Star Wars. What’s more, the Museum will have an in-house Stormtrooper and Darth Maul wandering its corridors throughout the exhibition, so you will get to meet them in the flesh whenever you visit. You can even volunteer to dress as the Museum Stormtrooper throughout the summer – just contact Torquay Museum.”
