Adult social care in Torbay will be receiving a boost of £7.4 million over the next three years following the recent announcement during the Spring Budget.
The government announced that an additional £2 billion will be given to councils in England over the next three years, It has been recognised that all local authorities are facing pressure on the provision of adult social care,
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “I am extremely pleased with this additional funding. £7.4 million is a substantial amount to support adult social care.
“However, the national picture is that this additional money does not solve the funding problem for social care and we welcome governments review to find a long term solution.”
Torbay will receive the £7.4 million in three payments over the next three years.
• 2017/18 – £3.8 million
• 2018/19 – £2.4 million
• 2019/20 – £1.2 million
