Police attended the scene and found a 17-year-old girl received a facial injury with a bladed object, and a 19-year-old woman had a wound to her hand. A male was also located close by with a stab wound. None of the injuries are said to be life threatening.

A 19-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently in police custody.

DI Mike Jones said: “I would like to thank the public for their help with this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are treating the incident very seriously.

“Thankfully in this case, although the injuries are serious, none of them are life threatening and it is believed that all parties are known to each other.”

“The use of a weapon, particularly a bladed article, is something we simply will not tolerate.

“We are continuing with our enquiries this morning and I would like to ask that if anyone witnessed the incident to contact the police.”

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to email police via 101@dc.police.uk or telephone 101, quoting crime reference CR/039921/17.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via https://crimestoppers-uk.org/
