Cancellations and delays after person hit by a train

Update: Police have confirmed the person involved has died.

There are delays on trains between Exeter and Plymouth this evening after a person was hit by a train on the line between Exeter and Newton Abbot.

Some services have been cancelled, others have been revised or delayed.

An update on www.nationalrail.co.uk states:

“A person has been hit by a train between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth and all lines are blocked. Trains between Exeter St Davids and Paignton / Plymouth may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or cancelled until approximately 21:00.

“CrossCountry customers may use Great Western Railway services on any reasonable routes. Great Western Railway customers may use CrossCountry services between Bristol Temple Meads and Penzance and South West Trains on any reasonable route. You may also use Stagecoach Buses on routes 2, 2A, 11, 12, X38 55, 55A and 55B,”

It is believed the person was hit in the Dawlish area.

The condition of the person involved is not yet known.
