Two injured in gas explosion

Emergency services have attended a suspected gas explosion at a bungalow in Buckfastleigh this morning, Saturday 23rd March.

A woman in her seventies has suffered serious burns and has been taken to hospital. A second person was treated for minor injuries at the scene at Barn Park.

Police, fire crews and air ambulance were mobilised to the incident at around 7.50am

Other nearby residents have been evacuated while the building is being made safe.

Police and Devon Fire and Rescue Service are currently working to establish the cause.

Fire crews from Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Newton Abbot and Ivybridge are currently attending what seems to be a Gas Explosion at a property on Barn Park in Buckfastleigh. A cordon remains in place covering the Barn Park and Jordan Street area.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is requested to contact the police on 101 quoting log 216 230319.
